Dewa Ketut Jatra
Dewa Ketut Jatra
Let me tell you a story about an isolated, old, and frail artist, Dewa Ketut Djatra. He made the decision to sell "THREE of the LAST paintings" he would ever make at the age of 80. His lifelong commitment to his trade was demonstrated by these paintings, which were created in the traditional Batuan Painting Style.
Using Chinese ink and acrylic on canvas, each stroke requires meticulous attention to detail and months of painstaking work.
The pieces, each measuring 70x90cm framed in wood exude a timeless beauty, blending classic techniques with themes deeply rooted in Balinese culture and tradition.
As aging and weakness overtake However, Dewa realized he would never be able to paint again, so he gave up these works of art. His creativity had been taken from him by age and weakness, leaving a legacy of artistic creation tempered with the bittersweet knowledge that his life's work had come to an end.
